Obesity problem, the effect of which is observed all over the world, is also seen as a serious problem in France and EU countries. According to OECD data published in 2019, the average adult obesity in a country is 19.5%. This ratio has been determined as "obesity is seen in 1 out of every 10 people’’ in France.

Project Goals

The aim of our project, which we have created based on the specified data, is to draw attention to the problem of "obesity" among young people, to raise awareness on this issue, to encourage a healthy life for young people through sports and art activities, and to try to create a visual awareness of obesity by performing artistic activities.

Project Outputs

39% of the adult population over the age of 18, that is 1.9 billion people, is overweight. 650 million of this 1.9 billion, making up 13% of the world population, are in the obese category. This situation also shows a negative picture in child obesity. According to another data published by WHO, it has been determined that 2.8 million deaths are caused by overweight and obesity every year. Again, 1 out of every 5 cancer deaths is due to obesity. In the light of all these data, it is an undeniable fact that every age segment of the society is faced with the problem of obesity.

Our Partners

According to OECD data published in 2019, the average adult obesity in a country is 19.5%. This ratio has been determined as "obesity is seen in 1 out of every 10 people’’ in France. While Hungary, one of our project partner countries, ranked first in obesity in 2011 surveys, they were able to reduce this number to 20% with tax controls in the following years. Another partner country, Lithuania, is one of the 4 European countries with the highest increase in obesity in children aged 15 years. In the EU region, where there are good examples, Italy has kept the obesity ratios around 10% for the last 10 years, setting a positive example for other countries. Turkey, on the other hand, has been included in our project as a negative example, which has a serious problem with this problem, with a ratio of 22.3% compared to the average adult obesity ratio of 19.5%.
